This is a small README, which is intended for a first installation of the
binary version of GUI client. If this is a source distribution, you will
find all info for building mysqlgui in INSTALL.TXT file.

Contained are guiclient executable, a help file and an example
of config file.

If this package is labeled semi-static and you have problems starting
mysqlgui, please download install and try a static version.

All you have to do with binary version of mysqlgui, from version 1.7.0
onwards, is to unpack it , copy the executable to some directory in PATH and
make a link or shortcut to your desktop or some menu.

When you start it for the first time, click on ``Options'' button, fill up
all entries correctly and click on ``Save'' button. From then on, you will
logon automatically to the running server on every mysqlgui startup.

Take care to put the right value in ``Ask for password'' button. Also, if
you have problems with location of socket files on *nix, enter a full path
of the socket file in the ``SQL command on the start-up''. This input field
is used on Windoze if you wish to specify that named pipe option.

Items in the config file outline a possible configuration for the client
on *nix system. On Windoze it is the same, except that drive letters are
necessary and HOME characters (~) should be omitted. Also, under Windoze,
`/' characters should be used in my.cnf in file / directory path names. If
backslashes `\', are to be used, they should be doubled ``\\'', like this:

c:\\one_dir\\second..
