GNU-Paperclips is the Java Servlet engine of the GNU-Project.
The software is licensed under the GPL and so you can download and alter
the source code if you want to.
GNU-Paperclips was designed to be small, fast and easy to use. The ease
of developing with the source code was also a major factor. Having said
that the source code is in flux at the moment as we move the engine to
Servlet API 2.3 compatability.
