ABSTRACT
Loadman is a workstation based Ethernet load monitor.
It provides an accurate measure of Ethernet
bandwidth usage as well as providing statistics on
Average Load and Peak Loads. The load data is
displayed in both textual and graphical form and is
	updated at one second intervals.

Loadman is part of the Netman Project from Curtin
University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia.

MECHANISM
Loadman uses data returned from a packet filter to
maintain a recent network history. This history is
used to calculate Load values for the history being
	maintaned.

CAVEATS
Loadman is a passive monitor so it will not adversely
	affect the network performance.

BUGS
	None known.

LIMITATIONS
If the workstation becomes loaded then packets can
be droped causing inaccuracies in the returned values.

HARDWARE REQUIRED
	DESstation.

SOFTWARE REQUIRED
Ultrix Packet Filter configured for promiscuous mode,
copy all and a backlog of 255 packets.
