Jeez, maybe life in Liverpool sucks that bad, but here in
Charlottesville I've done this many times and not had any
problems.

You might try asking a neighbor's wife if she'll accept the package
for you and hold it 'till you get back from work. Surely you've
got a few decent neighbors, right?
