PC SOCKS Pack - Version 1.01
============================
File: REQUIRES

To use the SOCKSified Windows Sockets clients in this package, it is
assumed that you already have some items in place, properly
configured, and working. You'll need to have the following set up
before you can continue.

	a. A PC with Microsoft Windows installed attached to a network.

	b. An appropriately installed and configured Windows Sockets
	   1.1 compatible (winsock.dll) TCP/IP stack. There are
several commercial versions of winsock and you will probably
need to get whatever one might be appropriate for your
	   environment.

If you're running packet drivers and need a winsock, Peter
Tatum's shareware Trumpet winsock can be ftp'd from
		ftp.utas.edu.au:/pc/trumpet/winsock/

	c. An appropriately installed and configured SOCKS server
(probably a UNIX box of some sort) that is directly
reachable by the PC(s) on which you are installing the
SOCKSified Windows Sockets client in this package.

If you need to get a SOCKS server set up, you can obtain
the appropriate information via anonymous ftp. Download
the following file to determine what you will need.
		ftp.nec.com:/pub/security/socks.cstc/FILES

NOTE: PC SOCKS clients cannot respond to an ident request
so be sure to configure your SOCKS server so that ident
checking is off for the PC clients. Version 4.2 of the
SOCKS server has greater flexibility in its configura-
	   tion for ident.
