The error messages that ZEHRaster Plus generates are listed in Messages. Most error messages have simple solutions, but you may find a problem that cannot be resolved so easily.
The troubleshooting steps are outlined below for both Windows NT and UNIX.
Windows NT
If a file you have selected does not print, start with these basic troubleshooting steps:
-
Make sure the printer is properly connected, plugged into a power source, and turned on.
-
If the printer is connected, powered, and turned on, send the zehlogo.rtl file to the printer. This RTL file is provided in the ZEHRaster Plus Program\examples directory. To send the file to the printer:
-
Open an MS-DOS prompt window by selecting Start >> Programs >> MS-DOS Prompt.
-
Change directories to the ZEHRaster Program\examples directory.
-
In the MS-DOS prompt window, copy the zehlogo.rtl file to the HP DesignJet printer's port:
copy /b zehlogo.rtl \\SAL\hp750
where /b is the switch specifying a binary copy and \\SAL\hp750 is the port assigned to the HP DesignJet printer you are printing to.
|
Note
|
Be sure to use the port for your HP DesignJet printer; the port \\SAL\hp750 is provided here as an example only. You can find the port for your HP DesignJet printer in the Port tab of the Properties sheet of the Windows printer associated with the HP DesignJet printer.
|
-
If the zehlogo.rtl file prints, skip to Step 5.
If the zehlogo.rtl file does not print or prints incorrectly, make sure the Windows printer is set up properly. Open the printer's Properties dialog and check the following:
-
In the Port tab, is the port correct?
-
In the General tab, click Print Test Page. If the test page does not print, try creating a new Windows printer using the Add Printer wizard in the Printers program group.
-
If neither the zehlogo.rtl file nor test page will print, contact your HP support group.
-
Now that you are sure the HP DesignJet printer connection and Windows printer are correct, you are ready to test the ZEHRaster Plus software itself.
-
Start ZEHRaster Plus and submit the test file, zehlogo.tif, provided in the Program\examples directory for printing. This file is a valid, conforming TIFF and has been run successfully through ZEHRaster Plus.
-
If zehlogo.tif is processed and printed successfully on your installation of ZEHRaster Plus, the problem is probably with the file you originally chose to print. In this case, call your HP support group for assistance.
UNIX
If a file you have selected does not print, start with these basic troubleshooting steps:
-
Make sure the printer is properly connected, plugged into a power source, and turned on.
-
If the printer is connected, powered, and turned on, send the zehlogo.rtl file to the printer. This RTL file is provided in the ZEHRaster Plus /install_dir/examples directory. To send the file to the printer, use the lp command for your UNIX platform:
lp -dlp_queue zehlogo.rtl
or
lpr -Plp_queue zehlogo.rtl (for Linux)
where lp_queue is the name of the LP queue set up for your HP DesignJet printer.
|
Note
|
Be sure to use the LP queue for your HP DesignJet printer; the queue lp_queue is provided here as an example only.
|
-
If the zehlogo.rtl file prints, skip to Step 5.
If the zehlogo.rtl file does not print or prints incorrectly, check the LP queue configuration. If the configuration appears correct but the file is not printed, contact your HP support group at the support number provided in the HP printer documentation.
-
Now that you are sure the HP DesignJet printer connection and LP queue are correct, you are ready to test the ZEHRaster Plus software itself.
-
Start ZEHRaster Plus and submit the test file, zehlogo.tif, provided in the /install_dir/examples directory for printing. This file has been run successfully through ZEHRaster Plus.
-
If zehlogo.tif is processed and printed successfully on your installation of ZEHRaster Plus, the problem is probably with the file you originally chose to print. In this case, call your HP support group for assistance.
