Changing Passwords
User Access: All users.
Users can change only their own password from the SM Console. Manager-level
users can change passwords for other users from the command line using the access
update password command.
SM Console Usage:
Follow these steps to change your password:
- Click Access Control
Change
My Password from the menu bar.
- Enter your current password.
- Enter your new password.
- Re-enter your new password.
- Click the
button.
SM Command Usage:
Users can update their own passwords, and manager-level users can update any
user's password using access
update password.
Note
- Usernames and passwords are strings consisting of any alphanumeric character,
underscore, hyphen, or period. Usernames must be unique and must begin with
an alphabetic character. Passwords can contain any printable character and
are case sensitive. Usernames and passwords are limited to 32 characters and
cannot be a null or empty string.
- If a user forgets his or her password, a manager-level user must delete
the user account and recreate it with a known password.
