Configuring the Service Processor File System

User Access: Administrators and Managers: full access; All users: view current configuration (read only).

You must configure your mounted file system for the Service Processor in order to enable logging, software updates, access to the online help system and other files.

SM Console Usage:

Follow these steps to configure the mounted file system for the Service Processor:

Note: You must first install the system package in a folder on your chosen file server. Both NFS and Windows based file systems are supported. Also provide the Service Processor with read/write mount access to the external file system.

  1. Click Configuration File System from the menu bar.
  2. Select the NFS File System radio button for the Service Processor to access a mount point on a remote NFS server. Then enter the complete NFS mount point, including hostname and mount name in the following format:
    <hostname or IP>:/<share path>

  3. Select the Windows File System radio button for the Service Processor to access a share point on a remote Windows server.
    1. Enter the windows share name, including //<server>/<share>.
    2. Enter a username for accessing the remote Windows file system, <domain or workgroup>\<user>.
    3. Enter a password for accessing the remote Windows file system.
  4. Click the button.

SM Command Usage:

You can also use the sp mount subcommands at the command line.
