Configuring the Service Processor Network
Settings
User Access: Administrators and Managers: full access; All users:
view current configuration (read only).
You can define the IP address method (static or DHCP) and other network settings
such as the hostname, DNS server address, and domains by configuring the Service
Processor network settings.
SM Console Usage:
Follow these steps to configure the Service Processor network settings:
- Click Configuration

Network from the menu bar.
- In the Settings table, choose the radio button for the IP Address
Method (DHCP or Static IP Address) you wish to use.
- If you chose Static IP Address, enter the IP address, gateway address,
and subnet mask.

- Identify other network settings.
- Enter the local host name for the Service Processor.
- Enter the IP address of the DNS server (if available) to resolve server
name references while at the command line.
- Enter the set of domains in which to search for machine name references
from the Service Processor command line.
- Click the
button
to save the settings.
SM Command Usage:
You can also use the sp ip subcommands
at the command line.
Note
- If you choose DHCP, the Service Processor will broadcast for a DHCP server
to obtain a dynamic IP. The IP address information will display but is not
editable.
