Initial Service Processor Configuration Options

Following are configuration options for consideration both during initial setup of the Service Processor and any time during system usage.

Configuring Your External File System

While the Service Processor functions normally without access to an external file system such as the NSV, a file system is necessary to enable event log files. The NSV also enables software updates, diagnostics, and online help.

Note: You can run the online help system independently from the SM Console by locating and opening in a standard browser start.htm in the docs/help directory.

To configure the Network Volume Share, follow these steps:

  1. Install the system package in a folder on your chosen file server. Both NFS and Windows based file systems are supported.
  2. Provide the Service Processor with read/write mount access to the external file system.
  3. Log on to the SM Console as either an admin or manager level user.
  4. Click ConfigurationFile System from the menu bar.
  5. In the Settings table, the default setting will be No External File System.
  6. Choose the type of file system you wish to configure:
  7. Click the button.

Other Configuration Options

These configuration options are recommended, but optional. You can configure them at any time from either the SM Console or using SM commands from the command line. Refer to the online help for details and instructions for configuring each of these options.
