Platform Operating System Button

The Platform Operating System button represents the current state of the platform operating system.

One of the states in the table (below) displays in the help panel when you move your mouse over this button. As the state changes, the image on the button also changes.

State Description
Off The platform power is off.
On

The platform is in a pre-communicative state, such as during a reboot or shutdown. This state also displays when the software is not installed on the platform.

Communicating The operating system is communicating with the Service Processor.
Sleeping The platform is sleeping or in a suspended state. This is sometimes called standby.
Diagnostics The platform is in diagnostics mode.
BIOS Boot The platform is booting BIOS.
BIOS Setup The platform is in BIOS setup mode.
OS Boot The platform is booting the operating system.
OS Shutdown The platform is shutting down the operating system.
