Welcome to the Systems Management Console Online Help

This server is based on industry standard components to ease setup, maximize up time, customization, and installation. It includes an embedded Service Processor that provides dynamic workload management and configuration control. You can use a browser-based interface, the command line interface, or SNMP integration with third party frameworks.

Service Processor

The Service Processor (SP) is an embedded microprocessor that monitors the platform’s environment (such as temperatures, voltages, current, fan speeds, and panel switches), and controls the platform’s thermal environment by managing airflow using fans, and initiating changes in processor power levels. The Service Processor also provides security features that allow for authorization and access control.

Systems Management

This server includes remote systems management capabilities via the Service Processor (SP). The Service Processor supports three interfaces with systems management capabilities:

SM Console

The System Management Console (SM Console) is a browser-based interface that enables you to interact with the Service Processor Web server to perform system configuration, management, and monitoring. This interface supports SSL encryption. The SM Console is the primary portal for administration of the system.

SM Commands

The Service Processor includes a suite of system management commands (sm commands) that enable the same configuration, management, and monitoring facilities that are provided through the SM Console. One additional capability enabled through the SM Commands is the ability to write data driven scripts for automated management of multiple machines.

SNMP Integration

The Service Processor provides access for monitoring the health and status of the system through SNMP.

Online Help System

The SM Console online help system provides information about using all of the systems management interfaces. The online help includes information about how to navigate and use the SM Console or SM commands to configure and manage the Service Processor, manage users, and troubleshoot the Service Processor. It also provides information about how to configure SNMP for remote management and contains detailed information and instructions about how to use the system management software. See the documentation that accompanied your server for information about requirements and installation procedures for the software components.
