OBSOLETE Patch-ID# 106544-01 Keywords: SNC script appends 1 server name save word invalid path Synopsis: OBSOLETED by 107806 Date: Jul/16/98 Solaris Release: SunOS Release: Unbundled Product: Solstice Network Client (SNC) Unbundled Release: 3.2 Relevant Architectures: i386 BugId's fixed with this patch: 4135723 Changes incorporated in this version: Patches accumulated and obsoleted by this patch: Patches which conflict with this patch: Patches required with this patch: Obsoleted by: 107806 on May/07/99 Files included with this patch: readme.txt sunwnpnt.dll sunwrun.exe Problem Description: 4135723: The customer has created an ntlogon.snc script that he has put in /opt/MSPolicy on his pcnfsd server which is TIMELORD The script contains the following: MOUNT DRIVE timelord:/rjp F: PAUSE 5 EXIT When he logs in to his NT machine the script runs and connects the F: drive, the problem is when the drive is connected it displays the following: rjp on 'timelord~1'(F:) In the registry there are entries for both timelord and timelord~1. This problem occurs only if the ntlogon.snc is attempting to mount a file system from the pcnfsd server that the nt machine has authenticated from. When the customer attempts to save a file from an application such as word to the mounted drive he gets the following error: This is not a valid filename. Try one or more of the following: * Check the path to make sure it was typed correctly. * Select a file from the lis of files and folders. (\\timelord~1\rjp\test.doc) Patch Installation Instructions: This patch is for Windows NT ONLY. This patch is packaged as a self-extracting compressed file (10654401.exe). It must be installed from Windows NT. The setup program backs up the original file(s). It then installs the new file(s) and a patch uninstall utility. To install, download 10654401.exe to a temporary directory on the PC. In Windows, select "Run" from the "Start" menu. Enter the path and patch filename (Example: c:\temp\10654401) then select "OK". The patch will uncompress and start the setup program automatically. Follow the setup program prompts to complete the patch installation. Restart Windows. NOTE: Make sure you have enabled the use of MSPolicy. Check the registry entry below and make sure it is set to 1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SUNW\CC\1.0\sunwnfs\EnableOptMspolicy After restarting windows -- remember to copy sunwrun.exe from \program files\solstice\bin to /opt/MSPolicy directory on your PCNFSD server. Patch Removal Instructions: In Windows NT, click "Start". Then select "Programs", "Patch 10654401" and click on "uninstallSHIELD". WARNING - The patch uninstall program restarts Windows at the end of the uninstall process. Installation Notes: All drive letter and directory name references are Solstice Network Client defaults. If you have installed Solstice Network Client or the patch file on a different drive, or in a different directory, substitute your drive and directory names in the example commands above.
