Problem Description:

4310104	Possible data corruption under volume manager (vxvm) control

Note:

The system must be rebooted (after patch installation)
for this patch to take effect.

When to apply: This patch should be applied only to systems running
Solaris 2.6 and using SEVM 3.0.2.

Volume Manager License Note:

"Volume Manager licenses which are automatically generated by the
existence of a SPARCstorage Array or an A5x00 Array behave differently
now than in previous versions of Volume Manager.

Previously, a "rolling" 14-day license was used for these arrays. The
'vxserial' command would always state that the expiration date was
approximately 14 days away, but as long as the hardware was present,
the license would continually "push out" and never expire.

Now, the 'vxserial' (or new 'vxlicense') command shows "no expiration
date" for these automatically generated licenses. If the array is ever
physically removed from the system, Volume Manager will continue to
function (ie, new volumes can be created, ....) until 100 "license
checks" are run. A "license check" is automatically run any time
'vxconfigd', 'vxassist,' 'vmsa', ... are run. After 100 license checks
are performed, the license will expire.

License files (in /etc/vx/elm) used to be named by their license
identifier (ie, "99", "86", ...). Now, the string ".lic" has been
appended to the file (ie 99.lic"). The license manager can read the
old license keys, but is not backwards compatible. In addition, the
'vxserial' and 'vxlicense' commands will print the license twice if
both files exist. If both exist, you can remove the old license file."
