(110278-02) 4400751 SUNWifbvt does not install correctly (110278 -01) SunVTS tapetest patch Information ================================= IMPORTANT - This patch not only obseletes, but is also incompatible with patch 110278-01. You must use patchrm 110278-01 before this patch will allow itself to be installed. This patch contains all of the enhanced functionality of 110278-01 and it fixes issues related to that patches assumption that the Sunvts tool kit is installed. This patch also introduces several more enhancements as indicated by the comprehensive description below. tapetest - Enhances read/write algorithms for DLT tape. Written patterns are now random and compress at roughtly 1.5:1. It now takes only 2 hours to write to EOT and 2 hours to read to EOT. Misc. changes to default options are more intuitive. - Fixes bug 4390759 where the DLT_Library button was not invoking the code which unloads the tape. This feature only works on L9 libraries because it supports "automode". No other library for DLT has this feature. NOTE: If you wish to invoke this feature via command line (CLI) and are using a DLT drive, you must specify the dat option using DLT_Library. The reason for this is that the "dat" option was the first, and originally thought to be the only drive to require a library implementation. Consideration should be made in the future for the possibility that any drive may be in a library. After the -o in the CLI add the following two parameters: dat=DLT_Library,num=2 Which specifies dat stacker (in this case DLT stacker) and number of tapes, two. The number of tapes option specifies how many tapes to cycle through. If you indicate a higher number of tapes than is available you will get an error stating such. - Fixes bug 4400751 by ensuring that tape_info.o is not left in the /opt/SUNWvts/bin and sparcv9 directories which causes subsequent patchadds (testadd) to discover redundant functions. - Fixes bug 4431037 "returned message 6020 not found" by correctly updating the tapetest.msg file with the patch installation process. Patch Installation Instructions: -------------------------------- Refer to the Install.info file for instructions on using the generic 'installpatch' and 'backoutpatch' scripts provided with each patch. Any other special or non-generic installation instructions should be described below as special instructions. Special Install Instructions: ----------------------------- IMPORTANT - This patch is incompatible with patch 110278-01. You must use patchrm 110278-01 before this patch will allow itself to be installed. This patch contains all of the enhanced functionality of 110278-01 and it fixes issues related to that patches assumption that the Sunvts tool kit is installed.
