Patch Installation Instructions:

The procedure for installing a patch release can differ slightly from the
procedure for installing the MTP J3270 software from a CD-ROM, as described
in the Installation Guide.
 
To install a patch release
 
1. Create a staging directory on your system for the zip file
you will download from SunSolve. For example:
 
mkdir /pkgs/j3270_patches
 
2. On SunSolve, select the patch and download it to the staging directory.
 
4. Change to the installation directory and unzip the file. For example, 
   type the command:
 
unzip /pkgs/j3270_patches/114279-06.zip
 
This command will unzip the 3 different formats of distribution media for
J3270 as follows:
 
   114279-06/J3270_8.0.0_114279-06_Win32.exe
   114279-06/J3270_8.0.0_114279-06_Generic.zip
   114279-06/J3270_8.0.0_114279-06_Solaris.zip
 
You should then select the installation file appropriate to the
platform on which you wish to install the patch:
 
J3270_8.0.0_114279-06_Win32.exe   : Windows 32-bit InstallShield executable
J3270_8.0.0_114279-06_Generic.zip : Windows/Generic ZIP archive
                                    (No startup wrappers, & text files are in
                                     DOS CR-LF format)
J3270_8.0.0_114279-06_Solaris.zip : Solaris/Generic compressed tar archive
                                    (contains startup shell script wrappers)

Special Install Instructions:
-----------------------------
 
The installation procedure for the ".zip" files is the same
as for the original J3270 product. First unzip the appropriate file.
Then read the Sun MTP J3270 User's Guide for details. This guide can be
found in PDF and HTML formats within the unzipped structure in the
J3270_8.0.0/doc/userguide directory. To view the HTML format, open the 
index.html file in the html subdirectory.
 
Refer to the J3270_8.0.0/fixes.txt file for information about the fixes
included in this patch release.
 
If you are installing the 32-bit InstallShield executable on a system where a
previous version of J3270 is installed, select one of the following
installation methods:
 
Method 1:
---------
a) On Windows, select Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs.
b) Select the entry titled 'Sun MTP J3270 8.0.0' and remove it.
c) Install the new "exe".
 
Method 2:
---------
a) Run the new "exe".
b) When the "Modify, Repair or Remove" dialog appears, select "Repair".
c) Select "OK" on the subsequent dialog warning of repairing one version/build
with another.
d) The files of the previous J3270 installation will now be updated with
the new versions.
