Patch Installation Instructions: -------------------------------- This is not an OS patch and is not installed with the standard patchadd(1M) command. After unpacking the patch, follow the "Special Install Instructions" below to upgrade the system PROM. This patch is not OS-dependent. This patch contains firmware which is installed on the Brocade SilkWorm 3200 and 3800 FC switch model, rather than using installpatch or patchadd. Prerequisites for installing the new firmware include: * FTP server (solaris host). * A Ethernet connection from a Solaris host to the Brocade Switch. To use an Ethernet connection, the Brocade 3200/3800 must have an IP address assigned and the user must know the admin password assigned to the switch. Unpack the patch into any convenient directory such as /var/tmp, and refer to the Special Install Instructions below. Special Install Instructions: ----------------------------- This firmware upgrade procedure will cause I/O interruption for 1 minute. It is assumed, Alternate pathing from dual Fabrics are in place for high availability. 1. Stop I/O to the Brocade 3200/3800 array if using a single fabric. 2. Change your working directory to the directory in which the patch was unzipped and confirm that the v3.1.2a file is present using the "ls" command. 3. Invoke telnet using the following syntax: telnet where is the name or IP address of the FC switch. If this switch requires sectelnet, you must be at v3.1.0 or higher. 4. Verify that the current switch firmware by typing the following command at the "admin>" prompt: switch:admin> version Kernel: 5.4 Fabric OS: v3.0.2x <--- If Fabric OS is reported as v3.0.#x, it must be upgraded. 5. At the "admin>" prompt, type the command: firmwaredownload Answer the prompts to proper FTP server and location.
