After unpacking the patch, follow the "Special Install Instructions" below to upgrade the system PROM. This patch is not OS-dependent. The list of releases shown under the "Solaris Release" and "SunOS Release" sections may not be complete. The absence of the running Solaris Release or SunOS Release from the lists above does not preclude the installation of this patch on the hardware. Special Install Instructions: ----------------------------- BSC Firmware update requires a TFTP server to be enabled on the same subnet as the SC being used to update the Blade. 1. Setting up a TFTP server 1.1 To set up a TFTP server, follow the instructions on "Setting up a TFTP Server" in the Blade System Chassis Administration Guide. 2. Copying the BSC Firmware Files 2.1 Download or copy this patch to the TFTP server and place in a directory; e.g. /tmp 2.2 As root, copy the binary files from the patch directory to the TFTP user home directory and make the files readable % su root Password: # cd /tmp/118206-01 # cp SunFireB100x-bsc-v5.1.13.flash /tftpboot # chmod +r /tftpboot/SunFireB100x-bsc-v5.1.13.flash 3. Updating the BSC 3.1 Connect to the SC console 3.2 Update the BSC firmware application using the following command. sc> flashupdate -f path -s IPaddress [-v] bladelist path specifies the path and filename of the BSC firmware you intend to download. IPaddress address of the TFTP server on which the new firmware is stored. bladelist specifies the blade(s) you intend the new firmware to be downloaded onto. -v (verbose) flag displays detailed screen output to enable you to observe the progress of the firmware update. e.g. sc> flashupdate -s 123.123.123.42 -f /tftpboot/SunFireB100x-bsc-v5.1.13.flash s0 s1 Note that for system controller firmware version 1.1 onwards, the following confirmation prompt will be displayed Warning: Cannot determine supported blade type. Do you want to continue (y/n)? Please make sure that the specified blades are B100x blades and type 'y' to begin the download, otherwise type 'n' to abort.
