After unpacking the patch, follow the "Special Install Instructions" below to upgrade the fibre channel switch firmware. This patch is not OS-dependent. This patch contains firmware which is installed on the QLogic SANbox2 or SANbox 5200 FC switch model, rather than using installpatch or patchadd. Followings prerequisites for installing the new firmware; * FTP server (Solaris host). * An ethernet connection from a Solaris host to the QLogic Switch. To use an ethernet connection, the QLogic SANbox2/SANbox 5200 must have an IP address assigned and the user must know the admin password assigned to the switch. * If you plan to use the SANbox Manager GUI to administer this switch, you must upgrade to Version 4.00.12.07. This GUI can be obtained from the QLogic website by selecting the SUN link on the following URL: http://www.qlogic.com/support/drivers_software.asp The old SUNWsmgr2 packaged GUI is no longer used to manage SANbox2 switches running 4.x firmware. See the "Special Notes" section for instructions on how to remove the old SANbox Manager GUI. * Unzip this patch into any convenient directory such as /var/tmp, and refer to the Special Install Instructions below. Notes: 1. This release consists of upgraded firmware and management GUIs. The updated management GUIs can be obtained from the QLogic website by selecting the SUN link on the following URL: http://www.qlogic.com/support/drivers_software.asp 2. SANbox 5200/SANbox2 running 4.0 firmware does not support SANbox 1G switches in the same fabric. SanBox2 product downgrade instructions can be found below in the Special Downgrade Instructions below. 3. The SANbox 5200 can only load 4.0 or newer version of firmware. 4. SANbox 5200/SANbox2 running 4.0 firmware does not support SANbox2 running pre-4.0 firmware in the same fabric. 5. VPF hard-zoning has been removed in 4.0 FW. On SANbox2 platforms running the older 2.0.0.5 FW, existing VPF zones will be converted to soft zones after upgrading to the 4.0 FW. If hard zones are still desired the ACL zone type is supported. 6. TL ports have been removed in the 4.0 FW for SANbox2 platforms. As a result of this feature removal the switch no longer supports FC-AL only devices such as the T3A. Configurations that require the use of TL_Ports should remain on 2.0.0.5 FW. In the event that and upgrade has already been performed please see the Special Downgrade Instructions below. 7. User Authentication is now enabled by default mandating a valid username/password to enter the GUI. 8. If you do not plan to manage any Sun StorEdge SANbox 1Gb or Sun StorEdge SANbox2 switches with 1.x or 2.x firmware on your SAN admin host, then you may safely remove any instances of the previous SANbox Manager GUI. - Remove all revs of the following patches if they exist: 112429-xx 112433-xx 112434-xx # patchrm 112429-xx # patchrm 112433-xx # patchrm 112434-xx - Remove the SUNWsmgr2 package if it exists. # pkgrm SUNWsmgr2 If you do plan to continue to manage some SANbox 1Gb or SANbox2 switches with 1.x or 2.x firmware from this host, you may leave the previous version of SANbox Manager on the host. It is installed in a different location and can safely coexist with the 4.00.12.07 GUI version needed for the firmware in this patch. 9. Upgrading from 4.0.2.04 to 4.0.2.05 firmware is an NDCLA capable operation. Please see the "Switch Management Users Guide" for detailed instructions. See the References section below for obtaining manuals.
