Patch Installation Instructions:
--------------------------------
 
Refer to the man pages for instructions on using 'patchadd' and 'patchrm'
scripts provided with Solaris.  Any other special or non-generic installation
instructions are described below as special instructions.  The following
example installs a patch to a standalone machine:
 
        example# patchadd /var/spool/patch/104945-02
 
The following example removes a patch from a standalone system:
 
        example# patchrm 104945-02
 
For additional examples please see the appropriate man pages.

Special Install Instructions:
-----------------------------
 
Rolling upgrade of a cluster running Netra HA Suite 2.1 07/05
=============================================================
 
This procedure differs from the previous patch instructions 
because a rolling-upgrade is described, avoiding a full cluster shutdown.
 
To install the patches (use the latest revisions), perform the following
procedure:
 
   1. Patch diskless nodes (one by one) and check configuration files:
 
      a. Put the diskless node in single-user mode.
 
      b. Log into the master node as super-user and add the latest core patch.
         # patchadd -R /export/root/<diskless node name> \
	   -M <patch location> 121109-02
 
      c. On the diskless node, reboot using 'init 6'.
 
   2. Update all dataless nodes, one by one:
 
      a. Copy the patch 121109-02 to the local storage.
 
      b. Move to single-user mode.
 
      c. Install the core patch:
         # patchadd -M <patch location> 121109-02
 
      d. Reboot using 'init 6'.
 
   3. Patch MEN nodes:
      First on the master node, then on the other (previous vice-master) node. 
 
      a. Verify that master node and the vice-master node are synchronized.
 
      b. Move to single-user mode (failover occurs).
 
      c. Install the patches:
         # patchadd -M <patch location> 116710-03 121109-02 121111-02
 
      d. Reboot using 'init 6' and check that the node becomes vice-master.
 
   4. Verify the cluster by using the nhadm check tool on all nodes:
         # /opt/SUNWcgha/sbin/nhadm check
 
 
Installation of a cluster using nhinstall
=========================================
 
1) Check that a Netra HA Suite 2.1 07/05 distribution is present on the
    installation server (location later referenced as <dist>).
2) Copy the latest Netra HA Suite patches 121109, 121111 and SNDR patch 116710
    to <dist>/Product/NetraHASuite_2.1.2/FoundationServices/\
    Solaris_9/sparc/Patches, where
        121109 = core patch for all nodes for Solaris 9
        121111 = patch for MEN with SNDR dependency for Solaris 9
        116710 = SNDR patch
3) Install the patch 121106 on the installation server (to patch nhinstall).
4) On the directory containing the nhinstall configuration files, add lines
    such as the following (check the patch revisions) to the addon.conf file:
        PATCH=121111-02 NHAS - F LOCAL Y N N STANDARD
        PATCH=121109-02 NHAS - F LOCAL Y Y Y STANDARD
    This will install the core patch on all nodes and MEN patch on MEN only.
    Create the addon.conf file if it does not exist.
5) Check that the default values for the new options meet your requirements.
    Otherwise update the cluster_definition.conf file with the correct
    settings.
6) Perform the installation as explained in the
    "Netra High Availability Suite Foundation Services 2.1 07/05
     Custom Installation Guide" document.
