Special Install Instructions: ----------------------------- For this patch to take effect, the plug-in must be upgraded using the plug-in upgrade jar included in this patch. This can be done using the SPS Browser Interface or the SPS CLI. Once the plug-in has been upgraded remote hosts will be required to be prepared before any plans can be run. These steps are also explained in detail in Chapter 5, Plug-In Administration, in Sun N1 Service Provisioning System 5.2 System Administration Guide at the following location: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4450/6n6jp1i7i?a=view Importing the SAP Plug-in upgrade jar using the SPS Browser Interface: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. In the Administrative section of the browser interface main window, click Plug-ins. 2. In the Action Column of the Plug-ins page, click Import. 3. Click the Browse button and navigate to the location of the upgrade JAR file: Solaris: /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.0_1.1.jar 4. Select the JAR file and click Open. 5. Click the Continue to Import button. When the import completes successfully, a plug-in details page appears and shows you the objects that the plug-in contains. Importing the SAP Plug-In upgrade jar Using the SPS CLI: -------------------------------------------------------- To import a plug-in file from the CLI, type: % cd /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade % cr_cli -cmd plg.p.add -path com.sun.sap_1.0_1.1.jar -u username -p password Migration --------- The SAP Plug-In version 1.1 upgrade is a change to the Logical Host component. Therefore, existing installations of the SAP Plug-In version 1.0 of the Logical Host component must be migrated to version 1.1. The migration consists of replacing 1.0 version of Logical Host component with the 1.1 version while ensuring that the 1.1 version has the same variable values as the 1.0 installation The following procedure describes the steps for migration: 1. After importing the SAP Plug-In upgrade jar, prepare the hosts. 2. The following steps describe the procedure to uninstall the 1.0 version of the Logical Host component. 2.1 In the Application Deployment section of the N1 SPS browser interface, click Components. 2.2 Navigate to the /com/sun/sap/resourcetypes folder. 2.3 Click the Logical Host component link of the 1.1 version. 2.4 Click the Version History link. The Component Versions table is displayed. 2.5 Click the Where Installed link of version 1.0. The Hosts Where Installed table appears. 2.6 List all hosts and their respective variable setting. 2.6.1 Click the Variable Setting name. 2.6.2 Make note of each component variable and its value. This information will be used in Step 3. 2.7 Navigate back to the Version History page. 2.8 Click the Details link for the 1.0 version of the Logical Host component. 2.9 Click the Run link for the uninstall: markOnly component procedure. 2.10 Select all the hosts from the host installations list or click the Select All link. Note: Remember the host names for installation of the 1.1 version of the Logical host component. 2.11 Click Run Selected Installations. 2.12 Click Run Plan (Includes Preflight). 3. The 1.1 version of the Logical Host component is installed through the SAP Tasks page. You need to install the Logical Host component on each of the hosts with the variable values that you saved in Step 2.6. Refer to the Creating and Managing Logical Hosts section of the Sun N1 Service Provisioning System User's Guide for SAP Plug-In 1.0. README -- Last modified date: Thursday, August 24, 2006
