Any other special or non-generic installation instructions should be described below as special instructions. The following example installs a patch to a standalone machine: example# patchadd /var/spool/patch/123849-03 The following example removes a patch from a standalone system: example# patchrm 123849-03 For additional examples please see the appropriate man pages. Special Install Instructions: ----------------------------- For this patch to take effect, the plug-in must be upgraded using the plug-in upgrade jar included in this patch. This can be done using the SPS Browser Interface or the SPS CLI. Once the plug-in has been upgraded remote hosts will be required to be prepared before any plans can be run. These steps are also explained in detail in Chapter 5, Plug-In Administration, in Sun N1 Service Provisioning System 5.2 System Administration Guide at the following location: http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-0252 Depending upon your existing plugin version, the following plugins have to be imported in the same order as provided below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |CURRENTLY INSTALLED JARS TO BE IMPORTED (Order of import given within parenthesis) | | VERSION | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | None /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.3.jar (1) | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1.0 /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.0_1.1.jar (1) | | /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.1_1.2.jar (2) | | /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.2_1.3.jar (3) | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1.1 /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.1_1.2.jar (1) | | /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.2_1.3.jar (2) | |-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 1.2 /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.2_1.3.jar (1) | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Importing the SAP Plug-in upgrade jar using the SPS Browser Interface: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. In the Administrative section of the browser interface main window, click Plug-ins. 2. From the listed plugins, note the version of the com.sun.sap plugin. 3. In the Action Column of the Plug-ins page, click Import. 4. Click the Browse button and navigate to the location of the appropriate upgrade JAR file based on the above table: For example: Solaris: /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade/com.sun.sap_1.0_1.1.jar 5. Select the JAR file and click Open. 6. Click the Continue to Import button. 7. Perform the above steps for all the JARs you have to import When the import completes successfully, a plug-in details page appears and shows you the objects that the plug-in contains. Importing the SAP Plug-In upgrade jar Using the SPS CLI: -------------------------------------------------------- To import a plug-in file from the CLI, type: % cd /opt/SUNWn1sps/plugins/com.sun.sap/Upgrade % cr_cli -cmd plg.p.add -path com.sun.sap_1.0_1.1.jar -u username -p password Note: Run the above command for all the JARs you have to import Migration --------- As a general rule, in case of multiple sequential version upgrades, such as when migrating from the currently installed version 1.0 or 1.1 as listed in the above table, do ensure that ALL the changed components in all the prior versions are migrated after importing the com.sun.sap.1.2_1.3.jar (see steps below) For components that have been changed more than once, you may can skip the intermediate migration steps for only those components (in this case, the LogicalHost component). FOR SAP PLUGIN 1.1: =================== The SAP Plug-In version 1.1 upgrade is a change to the Logical Host component. Therefore, existing installations of the SAP Plug-In version 1.0 of the Logical Host component must be migrated to version 1.1. The migration consists of replacing 1.0 version of Logical Host component with the 1.1 version while ensuring that the 1.1 version has the same variable values as the 1.0 installation The following procedure describes the steps for migration: 1. After importing the SAP Plug-In upgrade jar, prepare the hosts. 2. The following steps describe the procedure to uninstall the 1.0 version of the Logical Host component. 2.1 In the Application Deployment section of the N1 SPS browser interface, click Components. 2.2 Navigate to the /com/sun/sap/resourcetypes folder. 2.3 Click the Logical Host component link of the 1.1 version. 2.4 Click the Version History link. The Component Versions table is displayed. 2.5 Click the Where Installed link of version 1.0. The Hosts Where Installed table appears. 2.6 List all hosts and their respective variable setting. 2.6.1 Click the Variable Setting name. 2.6.2 Make note of each component variable and its value. This information will be used in Step 3. 2.7 Navigate back to the Version History page. 2.8 Click the Details link for the 1.0 version of the Logical Host component. 2.9 Click the Run link for the uninstall: markOnly component procedure. 2.10 Select all the hosts from the host installations list or click the Select All link. Note: Remember the host names for installation of the 1.1 version of the Logical host component. 2.11 Click Run Selected Installations. 2.12 Click Run Plan (Includes Preflight). 3. The 1.1 version of the Logical Host component is installed through the SAP Tasks page. You need to install the Logical Host component on each of the hosts with the variable values that you saved in Step 2.6. Refer to the Creating and Managing Logical Hosts section of the Sun N1 Service Provisioning System User's Guide for SAP Plug-In 1.0. FOR SAP PLUGIN 1.2: =================== The SAP Plug-In version 1.2 upgrade is a change to the following SystemServices: 1. CentralInstanceSS 2. OracleSS 3. UtilSS Therefore, after the import of the com.sun.sap.1.1_1.2.jar, all the hosts should be prepared again, regardless if they were prepared earlier. By doing so the System Service files get propagated to each of the Remote Agents. Refer to the "How to Prepare a Physical Host" in Sun N1 Service Provisioning System 5.2 System Administration Guide. FOR SAP PLUGIN 1.3: ================== The SAP Plug-In version 1.3 upgrade is a change to the following components: 1. AppServer 2. Group 3. HAStoragePlus 4. LogicalHost 5. SAPClasses Therefore, existing installations of the SAP Plug-In version 1.2 of all the above components must be migrated to the next version. The migration consists of replacing 1.2 version of these component with the 1.3 version while ensuring that the 1.2 version has the same variable values as the 1.3 installation The following model procedure describes the steps for migration for the LogicalHost: 1. After importing the SAP Plug-In upgrade jar, prepare the hosts. 2. The following steps describe the procedure to uninstall the 1.1 version of the Logical Host component. 2.1 In the Application Deployment section of the N1 SPS browser interface, click Components. 2.2 Navigate to the /com/sun/sap/resourcetypes folder. 2.3 Click the Logical Host component link of the 1.2 version. 2.4 Click the Version History link. The Component Versions table is displayed. 2.5 Click the Where Installed link of version 1.1. The Hosts Where Installed table appears. 2.6 List all hosts and their respective variable setting. 2.6.1 Click the Variable Setting name. 2.6.2 Make note of each component variable and its value. This information will be used in Step 3. 2.7 Navigate back to the Version History page. 2.8 Click the Details link for the 1.1 version of the Logical Host component. 2.9 Click the Run link for the uninstall: markOnly component procedure. 2.10 Select all the hosts from the host installations list or click the Select All link. Note: Remember the host names for installation of the 1.2 version of the Logical host component. 2.11 Click Run Selected Installations. 2.12 Click Run Plan (Includes Preflight). 3. The 1.2 version of the Logical Host component is installed through the SAP Tasks page. You need to install the Logical Host component on each of the hosts with the variable values that you saved in Step 2.6. The Logical Host 1.2 version has the following two additional component variables 1. globalZoneHostName 2. localZoneHostName which need to be also set. Please refer to the Release Notes for setting the value of these component variables. Refer to the Creating and Managing Logical Hosts section of the Sun N1 Service Provisioning System User's Guide for SAP Plug-In 1.0. Similarly, the same set of steps, as mentioned in the upgrade of the LogicalHost, need to be performed for first un-installing the previous version of following: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Previous | Current | Additional | | Component Name | Version | Version | component variable(s) | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | /com/sun/sap/resourcetypes/AppServer | 1.0 | 1.1 | isJ2EE | | /com/sun/sap/resourcetypes/Group | 1.0 | 1.1 | - | | /com/sun/sap/resourcetypes/HAStoragePlus | 1.0 | 1.1 | - | | /com/sun/sap/SAPClasses | 1.0 | 1.1 | - | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- followed by the installation of the current version. The AppServer component has an additional component variable "isJ2EE". Please refer to the Release Notes for setting the value of this variable. Refer to the following Sections in the Sun N1 Service Provisioning System User's Guide for SAP Plugin 1.0 available at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/coll/1119.6 for: App Server - Creating, Managing and Installing SAP Application Servers Group - Creating and Managing Groups HAStoragePlus - Creating and Managing HA Storage Devices.
