Accessing Menu and Command Functions

Every menu label contains a single underlined letter. The underlined letter is the hot key, the key used to access the menu.

In the following illustration, the letter V is the hot key for the View menu. After opening the menu, you see that each menu item has its own hot key.

Fields and command buttons also have associated hot keys. In the above illustration, the Find field has a D hot key, the Search command button has an S hot key, and the Case sensitive checkbox has an N hot key.

  2. With the menu open, press the hot key letter corresponding to the feature of interest.

To activate a field or command function:

Press Alt followed the hot key letter for the field or command button. For example, to check the Case sensitive checkbox for a search, navigate to the Search tab, then press Alt+N.
